Found a bunch of amusing photos and images I've been meaning to post. Queued in my Drafts folder, prob. one a day for the next few days to clear them out.
Merry Festivus.

I've driven every one but the 8, the 16, the 19 and the 45. Nogales, Macon and Houston just hold no interest for me.

I present the XEL-1:
Yes, we own one.
Yes, it should be the sweet tech of the kitchen.
No, it isn't.
Way to take an AWESOME 3mm thin screen and WELD it to an INFLEXIBLE arm attached to a base the size of a Mac Mini. Its like the Ball iMac inspired by the Pixar lamp, but with 2 fewer degrees of movement, a screen half the size and no ability run Peggle.
So I'm going to take it apart.
I think I ought to be able to separate the base and the screen, get a longer cable, and mount the base out of the way, having only the screen visible.
_Or_ I'll just be destroying an expensive TV. Stay tuned for photos. :)

Thanks to Greg Ritter and Jon Bodner for making Wikipedia just _that_ much more entertaining today.

So there we were, sitting at our new favorite restaurant (A Côté, in Rockridge, FTW), having a nice discussion about FSM-knows-what, when a couple is seated next to us.
Mind you, this isn't _actually_ a couple, its a woman and a man who seem to be friends. The woman is, well, of a food-friendly persuasion, and the man is, well, of a man-friendly persuasion, and we're going to move on from the euphemisms at this point, in that its not entirely relevant who the couple are, or what they look like, although the rest of the story is funnier if you can picture them.
Anyway, I have to start listening to E with only one ear because I hear the magic words "Joss Whedon" and some descriptive text about Firefly, only to realize that he's describing how he never followed the series because really, spaceships and westerns?
OK, tune out, back to our conversation, only to pick up that he went out and rented Serenity. Why, you might ask, would he rent Serenity after dissing Firefly?
Well, the answer wasn't forthcoming, so I tuned back out. And yet, somehow, somewhere, in the back of my head, I pieced together the following, and couldn't tell E for almost an hour until they left: that's right, he rented Serenity because he was attending a FIREFLY THEMED WEDDING (could you call this a Coswedding?)
And best of all, it seems like he was upset at having to dress up for the wedding.
Gotta love these people ...
